So Why Vote for Guy as Mayor of Saint Andrews ?

Any candidate for mayor should be able to present to the voters their qualifications to lead the Town of Saint Andrews. I think my education, experience, commitment to the community and track record are good fit to be Mayor of Saint Andrews.

Qualifications are important

To lead the Town to the next level, qualifications are important. To address complex issues such as increasing debt, major infrastructure challenges, municipal strategic plans, zoning bylaws, significant wharf rehabilitation and many other challenges requires a person with advanced education, broad experience and a demonstrated ability to get the job done.

In my career, I have taken on tough challenges and completed difficult jobs. 
 
  • In Parks Canada, I provided functional direction to over 1400 technical staff, set the policy for a portfolio of over $23 billion dollars including five resort towns, over 6000 buildings, 250 dams, 450 bridges and the largest heritage portfolio in the country. 
  • At public works, I managed a large contract for asset management services valued at $100 million per year and led a team of 14 property management professionals.  
  • At the National Capital Commission, I was responsible for a portfolio of 744 buildings. 
  • At Department of National Defence, I managed a number of major construction projects in three different provinces totalling over $400 million dollars.
Locally, I have served on Council for six and a half years and have a thorough understanding of the Local Governance Act, Community Planning Act and Town of Saint Andrews bylaws.
 
I have advanced skills in presiding over meetings, leading multi-disciplinary teams, preparing detailed budgets, managing infrastructure assets and directing complex projects.

Just as important as qualifications, is the need for a Mayor who is civic minded and committed to the success of Saint Andrews. I am invested in our local community and believe in a better Saint Andrews. But actions speak louder than words … over the last few years I have:
 
  • acquired over $250,000 in grants for local organizations;
  • secured over $1,600,000 in funding for trails and supervised the construction of a large part of the trail system;
  • received a $100,000 grant for Katyโ€™s Cove and oversaw the construction of the washrooms and change rooms at the Cove;
  • obtained a $25,000 grant to resurrect โ€œThe Courierโ€ and led the team producing our local community newspaper;
  • organized and coordinated the delivery of groceries and medicine during COVID 
I care deeply about this community and am ready to apply my knowledge, experience and skills to take Saint Andrews to the next level.
